Noida is a city in the National Capital Region of India. It is located around 35 km west of Delhi and shares its border with Uttar Pradesh and Ghaziabad districts.

The city was planned and developed by the Uttar Pradesh Government's Industrial Development Authority, which has been redeveloping industries on a large scale in India since the late 1980s. The buildings are designed by architects from Italy, Germany, Japan and other countries. The urban growth has resulted in Noida being the most prosperous city in Uttar Pradesh after Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra and Allahabad.

Noida City has been ranked as one of the best places to live in India for an amazing number of times. In fact, Noida has been included among 10 best cities to live in India by Forbes magazine.

Noida is a part of Greater Noida but has its own municipal corporation and police force. The city lies on National Highway 58 (NH-58), which connects it to Delhi, Agra, Meerut and Kanpur. The old town is located on the western bank of Ganges River while new town spreads over an area that includes Noida Industrial Area on the east bank.
